A few important notes on HTML email
The code written for HTML emails although similar to web browser code, as it is written in HTML, is written in a slightly different way to satisfy email clients.
Whereas you could send web page code across in an email – it will be treated very differently than specifically written code for email. It is more likely to appear incorrect because the rendering capabilities of email clients are more limited than web browsers.
Email look and appearance on different Email reading applications
As with Web Browsers (Web browsers such as Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari), Mail clients will present the same html code in different ways. For example font sizes will vary on presentation in Apple Mail, Microsoft Outlook Express, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Entourage, Thunderbird, g-mail, Hotmail and Yahoo Mail. There is no way of knowing which package a client will use, it is a personal choice and they may even use more than one.
Email code is written as a compromise for the best presentation in the most popular Email clients.
Other factors that dictate the design of an HTML email
• Email clients, especially the web based Email clients such as Hotmail and g-mail, actively modify the HTML code they receive in an email before displaying it… this causes the major problems.
• Achieving a low spam score to prevent your email being rejected is more likely with a simple design. ‘Clever’ or complicated designs are more likely to be rejected. We have found there are a number of ‘good looking’ compromised template designs that can still achieve your marketing needs and this is what we will deliver here.
