Si Homfray: Creative director

Hammer Design is Si's brain child. The driving force behind the Hammer mission to simplify, beautify, challenge and reshape commercial communications. 22 years of professional experience as an entrepreneur, marketing consultant and graphic designer working with the web, print, exhibitions (and just about everything else graphic) with an enormous variety of clients, the great and the small, on thousands of projects, should ensure that a relationship with Hammer Design will be an asset to any company.

Simon Homfray set up both Hammer Design and Living Art as projects of love - a natural progression of personal interests. Original ventures interdependent on each other these new businesses set new standards in commercial strategy and environmental conscience for the next era. Originally trained as a Sheffield University medic in the 1980's, Si developed his principles of excellence across multiple skils and disciplines only after many years of setting up and building several successfull businesses such as The Futon Workshop (furniture manufacture and retail), Diagram (design and marketing agency), Imagine (exhibition printing) and most recently Vivid Creative (graphic design agency).

Si is passionate about everything graphic, Apple Macintoshes, two wheels, film, mountaineering, photography, poetry, travel, in fact, passionate about just about everything.

Helen Wallis: Business development director

Helen brings a certain professional, smart and sophisticated flavour to our dynamic team. Helen’s background lies in city firms, dealing with the big players and playing with the big deals. Helen is passionate about swimming, horses, rich tea biscuits and making sure things get done.

Kate Learmouth: Senior coordinator

Kate has taken on Hammer Design and Living Art’s Senior administrative role. Kate has a background in the media industry and voluntary sector, working with environmentally responsible organisations. Kate is passionate about art and design, style and good food, and has also been known to don a pair of rock boots from time to time.

Michael Judge: Senior web developer

Michael has an extensive background of many years of web design working for a multiplicity of clients within the Peak District. His other professional interests include, e-bay, music promotion, sound recording, editing and photography.

Ben Carpenter: Website design and development

Once a physicist, Ben applies his scientific rigour to the presentation and underlying design of webpages to ensure maximum usability and compliance with web standards. When not sitting in front of a text editor making websites behave cross-browser, Ben enjoys a spot of photography and a lot of climbing which he still loves after spending more than half his life doing it!

Andy Briggs: Senior design creative

Andrew joined Hammer Design after a gruelling afternoon of tea and biscuits with Si and the team (AKA the Interview), and when their brains became as one all was in place to move things forward and actually get some work done.  Andy is a huge lover of design who thrives off original ideas, weird and wonderful Web stuff, Typography, Product Design, Design Classics, and Digestives with Philadelphia and Jam!
If it can’t be done, do it. If you don’t do it, it doesn’t exist.

Buddha Shakyamuni: Project manager
